MSP calls for answers over changes to Crail housing development

Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife has written to Ronnie Hinds, Chief Executive of Fife Council and Margaret Burgess MSP, SNP Minister for Housing and Welfare.

Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife said:

“I have been contacted by a number of constituents in Crail regarding the development at Caraille Green, Crail and the subsequent changes to the original planning consent which will see affordable housing increase from 35% to 85% of the development.

“I have raised concerns with both Ronnie Hinds, Chief Executive of Fife Council and Margaret Burgess MSP, SNP Minister for Housing and Welfare regarding the legality surrounding changes to the application and the subsequent changes to the planning permission obtained back in 2007 for 77 dwellings (of which 22 were to be affordable or social housing).

“Many of the residents who have already purchased properties are extremely disappointed and angry at the changes to the development and specifically the unforeseen increase in affordable housing for a small rural community.

“I have requested that the Minister for Housing and Welfare outline what advice the SNP Scottish Government provides to local councils in a situation such as this as well as seeking clarification from Fifer Council regarding the application and the subsequent changes to the planning permission.”
