An SNP MP has confirmed they will hold another independence referendum no matter what the UK Government says.
On BBC radio, Richard Thomson MP said “the Scottish Government has been quite clear that the other route to that is simply to go ahead with a referendum.”
Nicola Sturgeon has said another referendum should be held while Scotland is still in the “recovery phase.”
Kate Forbes said just a few days ago that indyref2 should happen “before recovery.”
Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross said: “This is confirmation beyond doubt that the SNP will hold another referendum, no matter what the UK Government says, if they win a majority.
“The SNP have put an illegal, wildcat referendum on the table as a real threat. Their plan is reckless, irresponsible and would have downright dangerous consequences for jobs and our economy.
“Another independence referendum would hammer businesses with uncertainty and put jobs at risk, all while we’re already facing an economic crisis.
“Only the Scottish Conservatives have the strength to stop an SNP majority, stop their plan for another referendum and get all of the focus back onto rebuilding Scotland.
“If pro-UK voters unite and use their peach party list votes for the Scottish Conservatives, we can stop the SNP again, just like in 2016.”

SNP MP Richard Thomson said: “…the Scottish Government has been quite clear that the other route to that is simply to go ahead with a referendum because we believe that the powers of the Scotland Act would permit a consultative referendum to take place.”
