Senior Fife Conservative Councillor Dave Dempsey has expressed concern of an apparent lapse in memory by David Alexander, leader of Fife’s SNP Group.
Cllr Dempsey said “Cllr Alexander is complaining loudly that Administration councillors – Labour this time round – voted to decide who got the convenership of the Standards, Audit & Risk Committee. He forgets that a mere five years ago – no time at all for someone of Cllr Alexander’s experience – his group, who were the majority of the Administration at the time , voted to decide who got those places usually reserved for opposition parties. In doing so, they favoured the smaller opposition group over the larger. It would appear that any ‘ban’ on who should vote would only apply when Cllr Alexander isn’t affected.
“Cllr Alexander compounds his error by confusing Administration and Opposition. He recognises that Fife now has a Labour Administration but claims that the SNP is the only Opposition Party. He must have a new term for the Conservative and Lib Dem councillors. Perhaps he’ll tell us what it is. And perhaps, before he does, he’ll realise that it applies to SNP MPs too.
