Scottish Conservative leader Russell Findlay has told John Swinney to “get back to the day job” and stop focusing on independence and international affairs.
After the SNP leader delivered a speech all about breaking up the UK today, Findlay said a majority of Scots wanted the government to act on improving the economy, NHS, schools and other key issues.
At First Ministers Questions, he said Swinney needed to “take no for an answer” and “move on”.
Findlay said Swinney was “desperately trying to get the focus off the SNP’s record of failure on the economy, schools, ferries, drugs, crime, health”.
Scottish Conservative leader Russell Findlay said: “The government needs to focus all of its attention on the economy, healthcare, education and the other key issues that people actually care about.
“Yet John Swinney is once again desperately pushing independence and ignoring the fact that Scotland decided this and rejected division.
“People want the SNP to give it a rest and focus on what really matters.
“John Swinney needs to get back to the day job and stop focusing on independence and international relations, as he has all week.
“The SNP leader is desperately trying to get the focus off the SNP’s record of failure on the economy, schools, ferries, drugs, crime, health and almost everything else.
“The same old John Swinney is back. He’s obsessed with independence and distracted from the day job.
“The majority of Scotland has a message for him: move on John.”
