Postal voters urged to back Scottish Conservatives on peach ballot to stop SNP majority

Russell Findlay has urged postal voters to cast their peach ballot for the Scottish Conservatives to stop the “nightmare scenario” of an SNP majority.

As postal ballot papers begin landing on doormats across the country, the Scottish Conservative leader was in Stirling today with local candidate Stephen Kerr for a campaign photocall.

Findlay warned pro-UK voters that John Swinney is deadly serious about his plans to break up the UK if the SNP secure a majority.

He called on them to prevent that happening by deploying their “secret weapon” for the Scottish Conservatives – just as they did in 2016 and 2021.

Scottish Conservative leader Russell Findlay said: “As postal ballot papers start to arrive, pro-UK voters must be under no illusions – if the SNP win a majority, which John Swinney reckons is in the bag, they will push relentlessly for another independence referendum.

“That would spell constitutional chaos for Scotland, with Swinney fixating on breaking up the UK at the expense of tackling the cost-of-living crisis and fixing broken public services.

“The best way for voters to stop that nightmare scenario is by backing the Scottish Conservatives on their peach ballot paper. It’s the secret weapon to stopping an SNP majority, just as it was in 2016 and 2021.

“Reform can’t claim to be a Unionist party when they are fielding pro-independence candidates and Lord Offord has provided the Nationalists with a roadmap to a referendum, while Labour and the Lib Dems are recklessly complacent about Swinney’s warning.

“The Scottish Conservatives are the only party that can be trusted to stand up for the Union and against the SNP’s independence obsession.”
