At Wednesday’s meeting of Fife Council’s South & West Fife Area Committee, Conservative Councillors Dave Coleman and Dave Dempsey secured Council support for the Dalgety Community Trust’s project to create a Community Hub, which would replace and improve on the town’s decrepit, 48 year old Community Centre.
Cllr Dempsey said “The Community Trust are doing great things in Dalgety Bay but they have a mountain to climb to secure funding. One possible source is funding from Government, both UK and Scottish, but that tends to arrive at short notice, with a closing date for applications. The secret to unlocking that is a ‘shovel ready’ plan.
“Fife Council has the resources to help create such a plan and officers from the relevant departments will now engage with the Community Trust to help bring one about”.

Note : The motion from Cllrs Coleman & Dempsey read
“Committee asks the relevant officers to:-
- engage with the Dalgety Community Trust to investigate the feasibility of the Trust’s concept of a Community Hub, being a replacement for the existing Community Centre, to the stage where it’s sufficiently “shovel ready” to potentially qualify for future government funding;
- keep members informed of progress”.
