Voters have been urged to back the Scottish Conservatives in key seats to beat the SNP and send a message to John Swinney that he must focus on improving our NHS, not on independence.
Scottish Conservative chairman Craig Hoy, who is visiting a medical research facility in Edinburgh’s BioQuarter, says on July 4 voters can judge the SNP for lengthy NHS waiting times.
One in seven Scots is currently languishing on an NHS waiting list, while figures out this week showed a further rise in both A&E waiting times and cancer treatment times.
On a visit to the new Usher Institute, Craig Hoy will see innovative medical technologies helping to improve patient care.
He says it “beggars belief” that the SNP’s manifesto had independence as its top priority, rather than fixing the crisis in Scotland’s NHS.
Scottish Conservative chairman Craig Hoy said: “Scotland’s NHS is in a permanent state of crisis under the SNP – and figures published earlier this week show that waiting times in A&E and to start cancer treatment are getting even worse.
“It beggars belief that the SNP made their independence obsession page one, line one of their election manifesto, when the top priority could have been fixing the mess they’ve made of Scotland’s health service.
“Scots have the chance to send John Swinney a message that he must focus on fixing our NHS by voting Scottish Conservative in the many key seats up and down the country where it’s a straight fight between my party and the SNP.
“If everyone who wants to beat the SNP votes Scottish Conservative in those crucial constituencies, where it will be really close, we can get the attention onto the issues that really matter most – such as faster GP appointments.”
