FMQs: Scotland has opportunity to move on from SNP

Scotland has the chance to finally move on from the SNP and end the independence debate for good, the Scottish Conservatives have said.

At First Minister’s Questions, Douglas Ross said “from Salmond to Sturgeon to Swinney, all the SNP have achieved is dividing Scotland”.

The Scottish Conservative leader highlighted new statistics showing the extent of the NHS crisis and raised numerous failings from the SNP’s time in office.

Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross said: “On the SNP’s watch, bed-blocking is at record highs, cancer patients face devastating delays, and one in seven Scots are stuck on an NHS waiting list.

“The SNP are bad for Scotland’s health.

“We’re all sick of hearing about their ‘page one, line one’ manifesto pledge to seek independence. Fixing Scotland’s broken NHS is the public’s top priority – but the SNP won’t make it their focus.

“They haven’t just let down the health service. The SNP have broken promises to fix key roads like the A9, A90, A96, A7, A75, A77, A83 and A1.

“The attainment gap was supposed to close, yet it’s wider than ever. They’ve dragged us down international education rankings.

“Violent crime is up, officer numbers are down. Scottish workers pay more tax than anyone else in the UK. They’ve abandoned the oil and gas industry.

“From Salmond to Sturgeon to Swinney, all the SNP have achieved is dividing Scotland. Independence will always come first – before our NHS, jobs, schools, roads, before everything.

“In 2024, the SNP’s leader from 2004 wants to take us back to the division of 2014.

“On July 4th, Scotland has a chance to move on from the SNP and end their demands for independence for good by voting Scottish Conservative in key seats up and down the country.”
