Risk rises that voting Reform could hand several seats to SNP

There is a real risk that just a few votes for Reform could help the SNP to win several seats in Scotland, recent polls show.

Evidence from new polling demonstrates that Reform will receive a very small number of votes in Scotland, but they may get just enough to benefit the SNP.

In the many seats that are a straight fight between the Scottish Conservatives and the SNP, polls forecast that Reform will only win a few votes, but it may be enough to swing those contests in the SNP's favour.

Earlier this week, Reform chairman Richard Tice said he didn't know how many Reform UK candidates in Scotland supported independence.

Reports have already revealed that several Reform candidates supported independence and previously voted SNP, including the party's deputy chairman in Scotland, David Kirkwood.

Scottish Conservative deputy leader, Meghan Gallacher, said: "Many seats up and down Scotland will come down to a straight choice between the Scottish Conservatives and the SNP.

"It will be really close between us and the SNP in those key seats. They are on a knife-edge. Every vote will count.

"In those coin toss seats, every vote for another party like Reform will only help the SNP to win.

"There is a real risk that just a few votes for Reform could hand several seats to the SNP, which John Swinney would use to try and demand independence.

"In key seats up and down Scotland, voting Scottish Conservative is the only way to beat the SNP and stop an independence-obsessed nationalist candidate from winning."
